EAA CHAPTER 791  HIDDEN LAKE   OCTOBER 7, 2007 MINUTES

 

 

Opening:  John  Edwards called the October, 2007 meeting of EAA Chapter 791 to order at 1900 hrs on Oct 10th, 2007 at Longleaf Elementary School with the Pledge of Allegiance and a Moment of Silence.

 

Guests & First-Timers:

Wayne Daniels – Mosquito control

 

A.        Approval of Previous Month’s Minutes

The previous month’s minutes were approved.

 

B.        Treasurer’s Report

Chuck was not present at the meeting and no report was given.

 

C.        Announcements

Keep it flying Tour – B-17 Fortress, will be at Lakeland Airport – Nov 16 – 18

 

-          Ford Partners offer EAA members substantial savings on new cars and Trucks from Ford Motors Company  - See EAA.Org for details.

-          Volunteer needed for refreshments – next meeting

-          Rodney Daulton is now the new Technical Advisor.  This is a great honor for our chapter to have a very talented individual to help all in their building adventures.

-           

D.        Old Business

-          Young Eagles – Success – 28 RiverRidge High School ROTC students were flown on Sat September 29th.  A great time was had by all.  Special thanks to Carol, Kathy, Cheryl and Karen for filling in for Sid. 

-          Storage Trailer – Tabled for now due to the storage available at the Hidden Lake hangers.

-          Christmas Party Schedule for Dec 12th.  Scott Murphy is heading up this years gala.  More details to follow.

-          EAA Dynamics – Flying and Builders divisions did not report.

 

E.        New Business

-          Young Eagles: New flight scheduled for Nov 17th at Hidden Lake.  Ridgewood High School ROTC is scheduled for 8:30am.  It should be the largest group of the year.

-          Pancake Breakfast – tabled ( no pun intended )

-          Door Prizes – please search your treasures for door prizes at the Christmas Party.

G.                Meeting Program:

 

·         Project Review: No report on Projects this meeting due to the time limitations on our meeting situation.

 

 

·         50/50 Winner  - Total was $28_.  Winner was Bill Stewart

 

 

 

·         Program: Pasco County Mosquito Control Department  Wayne Daniels gave an outstanding and informative presentation on how the PCMCD works.  We also learned a lot about the mosquito life cycles.  This information gave us the background on the control techniques used to fight these little biters.  The program tries to control and not eradicate the mosquito to keep the balance in the environment. Nuisance problems, tourist economic impact and disease control is the main goals of the program.  PCMCD employees 45 with 38 trucks, 2 helicopters, 2 fixed wing and an ATV.  We thank Wayne for the job he does, and hope for his continued success.  Any problems or nuisance noted please call Mosquito Control at 727-376-4568 between May and October.

 

 

 

Adjournment: John Edwards adjourned meeting at 2000 hrs. The next general meeting will be at 1845 hrs on Wednesday, 13th Nov, 2005 at Longleaf Elementary School.

 

Please note the early start time for the meeting. This is so that we may get in all that is planned.  We are limited on our ending time because of the school closing time.  Our speaker for next meeting will be Matt Schloss from Gulf Coast Avionics.  We will also have a discussion on Harris Sullivan.  See you there.  John Voda
