The Chapter’s regular meeting will be held on June 13th. Future chapter meeting will also be held on the second Wednesday of each month, and will be continued on that date for the foreseeable future. Meetings are open to anyone with an interest in building, restoring, and flying airplanes. The meetings will be held in Art Michaud’s hangar in the Hidden Lake Community starting at 7:00 PM. There should be ample parking along the Merlin street sides. Remember to get into the community, you must hit the “Key” button twice and then enter the secret code 2670.  Hidden Lake Community is off Ridge Rd about three miles east of Little Rd.

:EAA Chapter 791  Monthly Meeting Minutes

 

 

Opening:  John Edwards called the May 2007 meeting of EAA Chapter 791 to order at 1905 hrs on May 9, 2007 at 10524 Merlin Drive with the Pledge of Allegiance and a Moment of Silence for our troops.

A.        Approval of Previous Month’s Minutes

The previous month’s minutes were approved.

 

B.        Treasurer’s Report

Chuck Lobdell reported $1020.26 before tonight’s take.

 

C.        Announcements

Chapter Renewals – See Chuck Lobdell for dues owed.

 


D.        Old Business

Camping at Sun-n-Fun:  Bruce Waters and the crew again put on a camping event to be remembered.  Location and food were tops while the company was priceless.

Young Eagles – Reflight scheduled for Saturday, 14th.  Thanks to all the volunteers and pilots.

John Edwards passed around articles in the local papers of our previous Y/E flights.

 

Sid Millers reported on the new requirements for Y/E pilot documents:

1.      Insurance

2.      Flight BFR

3.      Currency Flight time

4.      Medical current

 

E.        New Business

Members List:  List was passed around to update all personnel information.

Bill Mamao our Duncan Donut supplier was acknowledged for his donation of the monthly refreshments. A motion was brought forth to generate a plaque for his store, complimentary membership and invitations to all events.

Larry Iwersen is looking into pricing of shirts, hats and name tags for chapter members.

 

 

F.         Safety Tips:

            Jerry Lee – Do not overcompensate with heavy load in small plane.

Jeremy Waters – Be alert on the radio when at High Traffic Airports.

Art Michaud – Pay attention to taxiing and not programming you GPS.

 

G.                            Pete’s Moment:  Why he joined EAA?  This is where the story continued from last meeting of flying C47’s out of Pakistan and the certification process.  Some where in the story he qualified to join EAA from watching others rebuild engines. He also announced he will be moving to Connecticut to be around family.  We will miss him and his great stories.

H.                            Meeting Program:

Deputy Rick Morse gave a great informational presentation on the Pasco County Sherriff Departments aviation operations here at FA40.

            He got his 8 years of helicopter flying experience in the Army mostly with Scout/ Cobras. PIC totals 6600 hours mostly in helicopter. Now with the PCSD, he is flying a OH58 with the Garman 430’s at night and a FLIR unit. (Forward Looking InfaRed)

Pilot requirements include Commercial Instrument ratings. 

Mission activities include:

                        High speed car chases.

                        Robberies – Home interventions

                        Ground chases

                        Missing Person searches

Note: PCSD is looking for a good full time helicopter mechanic.

A very informative video on the FLIR was reviewed with questions from the group that were expertly answered by Deputy Morse.  We thank him for sharing the information with us and wish him safe flying.

Q     John  Voda is still working on electrical connectors after visit at SnF

Q     Pete Porebski is having his hanger floor placed this week, and looking forward to having his Falco project taken down from his garage.

 

 

J.                               50/50 Winner  - Total was $???.  Winner is Bernie Ness, who donated his winnings to the Chapter.
